Singing in the rain
by Kaz on 25/08/2024Absolutely fantastic night, very much a crowd pleaser, and made a young fans night getting her on stage. Even the non stop rain didn't put a damper on the concert.

The pop powerhouse with soulful vocals and fearless delivery
Jess Glynne made history by becoming the first British female solo artist to score seven number ones on the UK Singles Chart â among them âIâll Be Thereâ, âHold My Handâ and âDonât Be So Hard on Yourselfâ. Her two previous Platinum selling albums have both become No.1 records and she collected three Ivor Novello nominations, won a Grammy, and racked up nine Brit Award nominations and 1.2 billion streams.
Raised in Muswell Hill, North London, Jess Glynne grew up trying to imitate artists with powerful voices like Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Etta James and Mariah Carey. In 2013 she was signed by Atlantic Records and shot to fame the following year after scoring two No.1 singles as a featured artist on My Love by Route 94 and Rather Be by Clean Bandit, which won a Grammy for Best Dance Recording.
Her first solo single, Right Here, also arrived in 2014, and peaked at No.6 in the UK singles chart. It was the lead track from her debut album, I Cry When I Laugh, released in 2015. Not only did it top the charts in the UK, but it broke into the top 10 in Australia, Ireland, Italy and the Netherlands. Plus, the album spawned two more No.1 singles with Hold My Hand and Donât Be So Hard On Yourself.
Following surgery in late 2015 to remove a polyp on her vocal chord, Glynne took a couple years off to write music. She returned to the charts in early 2018, featuring on Rudimentalâs single These Days alongside Macklemore and Dan Caplen. Later that year, her second album Always In Between came out and went straight to the No.1 spot. Four more of its tracks â Iâll Be There, Thursday, One Touch and All I Am â also topped the charts.
In addition to a Grammy, Glynne has received an O2 Silver Clef Award, A&R Award and Ivor Novello Award, as well as been nominated for BRITs, MTV EMAs and BBC Music Awards. She was named on Forbesâ Most Influential People Under 30 list in early 2019, and later that year supported the Spice Girls on their Spice World UK reunion tour. Â
In summer 2020, Glynne partnered with electronic duo Snakehips on Lie For You featuring Davido and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie. The single was accompanied by an anime-themed video set in a dystopian future, with the four artists battling to restore peace and humanity to the world.
In November 2020, Glynne released a festive cover of Donny Hathawayâs This Christmas and she also announced a series of shows at racecourses and other outdoor venues across the UK for summer 2021.
The singer-songwriter brought in fresh management and switched record label to EMI, relocating to Los Angeles for music of 2022 and honing a new, more vulnerable songwriting style with producers including Greg Kurstin (Sia, Adele), Emile Haynie (Lana Del Rey), Malay (Frank Ocean) and BOOTS (Beyonce). They added to a tight, five-member writing team: herself, long-time collaborators Knox Brown and Jin Jin, plus grime musician Wretch-32 and Grammy-nominated producer P2J (Wizkid, Stormzy) and she took songwriting inspiration from the likes of Joni Mitchell, Amy Winehouse, Prince and more.

Jess Glynne was absolutely amazing! Will definitely go to see her again! The other singers were good! And the DJ was fantastic too!
Great set by Jess even though you seemed to have a sore throat. Not once did she moan or complain she pushed thru the set. Amazing interaction with the crowd and sincerely humble to be where she is. Loves the venue, it's not too big or small, perfect size with lots of choice of food. Crows were all up for an amazing night and the atmosphere reflected that.
Venue was good, little disappointed that there were so many supporting acts and that Jess Glynne was only on for 1 hour 15 minutes because of this. Apart from that, she was brilliant!
Great event which was very well organised. Choice of food was good and what I had was reasonably priced. I was very impressed with the pixies who were collecting the rubbish. I would however suggest that there is lights in the toilets especially when it's dark and the toilets and checked a bit more
We went to watch Jess at the piece hall in Halifax, I took my disabled sister to her first concert and it won't be our last, Jess was amazing from start to finish, we got a lovely viewing platform so my sister didn't get her view of the stage restricted, she loved every minute
Crystal palace bowl is a great outdoor summer venue. I was really impressed with the accessibility. There were plenty of helpful staff, including security and litter pickers. Plenty of toilets, lots of good options for food stalls and drinks, didn't have to que for long for anything. It was a great crowd. Would definitely go back to this venue
Well organised events, excellent performance, fantastic music and good weather đ
We had a fantastic time from start to finish. Supporting act were brilliant too. Could do it all over again
