Renowned celebrity chef and TV presenter

Born in 1972 in North Yorkshire, James Martin is a celebrity chef and popular TV presenter. His passion for cooking began at a young age when his father became the catering manager at York’s Castle Howard. Trips to France as a teenager also fanned the flames of Martin’s appreciation for fine food and wine.

In 1988 he began catering training at Scarborough Technical College, where he was named Student of the Year for three years in a row. After moving to London in 1991, Martin found himself working in some of the city’s top kitchens including One Ninety Queen’s Gate, Alastair Little in Soho and Harvey’s in Wandsworth. He also landed coveted positions as a junior pastry chef at Chewton Glen in 1993 and head chef at Hotel Du Vin in 1994.

Martin first began his TV career in 1996 with Sky One and then went over to BBC’s Ready Steady Cook and The Big Breakfast. Today he is best known as the former host of BBC’s popular cooking show Saturday Kitchen. Since moving to ITV in 2016, he has presented James Martin's American Adventure, Saturday Morning With James Martin and James Martin's French Adventure.

On 7 September 2020, Martin announced his first ever live stream cookery masterclass* for Saturday 3 October 2020. During the 90-minute interactive experience, participants will learn to prepare a mouth-watering three-course meal while he shares tips, tricks and skills.

  • As part of the experience, James Martin will invite some participants to chat on screen so he can check on their progress. There will also be the chance to quiz him on his extensive cooking experience.**

The celebrity chef is staging his first ever live cookery masterclass on Saturday 3 October 2020.

James Martin will lead the class during a live broadcast that fans can view and participate in from the comfort of their own kitchens via a laptop, tablet, phone or other smart device.

The three-course menu is as follows:

  • Starter: Halloumi with chilli jam
  • Main course: Chicken sauté with vinegar and pilaf rice
  • Dessert: Raspberry tart

The quantities will be based on a meal for four people, so you can adjust your ingredients according to how many people you are cooking for.

Once you have booked a ticket, you’ll receive a confirmation email with details about the ingredients needed and utensils required.
