About

The Queensland singer-songwriter arrives in the UK

Growing up in Queensland, Australia, singer-songwriter Jacob Lee initially took to busking at Surfers Paradise to spread his music. Taking part in the third season of his native country's The X Factor, Lee was eliminated at the bootcamp stage due to his young age. He then became a member of short-lived boy band Oracle East, drawn together by Sea FM. Three years later, Lee appeared on The Voice, eliminated following a stint coached by will.i.am. Eventually opting to go it alone, Lee began to self-record and release material shortly after his departure from the show, revealing his debut solo single Chariot in 2014.

Forming part of his 2016 EP, Sine Qua Non, the track began to draw considerable attention across streaming platforms. Actively forgoing mainstream industry and press attention, Lee racked up a legion on fans on YouTube and dropped his Clarity EP the following year. Boasting over 60 million streams on Spotify alone, Lee turned his attention to his debut full-length.

As well as securing ARIA chart positions with collaborations alongside Social Hooliganz, Lee released his Philosophy album in 2017. Further cementing his acclaimed vocal ability and songwriting craft, the record featured tales of struggles with mental health, reflections of the music industry and confessions of unconditional love. The album appeared through his own Philosophical label.

Touring the album across the globe, Lee soon focussed on his second full-length, revealing the album's title track Conscience in April 2019. Capturing audio samples during his adventures, Lee described his music as a "a musical tapestry of contemplation, observation, questioning and hope". For the following months, Lee unveiled the individual tracks that would ultimately form the full-length Conscience. As he had with his debut, Lee then began to re-imagine the album's songs for an orchestral and remix package.

Celebrating over 240 million streams, in 2020 Jacob Lee announced a handful of headline UK dates for 2021 in support of Conscience.
