About Hush

Hush at the Royal Albert Hall in association with Music Week Unearthed are proud to present Alan Pownall, Jonathan Jeramiah and Jose Vanders in the Hall's intimate Elgar Room.

Having taken to music late while at Art School in Milan, Alan Pownall has acquired an enigmatic quality in his sound and style. Playing his first few gigs only a year or so ago, Alan found himself opening for artists such as Laura Marling, Noah & The Whale and Florence and The Machine. An early champion of Alan's music was songstress Adele who, after a chance meeting, sought him out on Myspace and invited him to support her on her first headline tour.

After taking a break to develop his material and songwriting, Alan started recording with producer Eliot James (Kaiser Chiefs). 'Clara' is the confident first offering from these sessions, a punchy, tongue in cheek tale of unrequited love, with catchy melodies, a bouncy rhythm and an infectious jaunt. Alan's music recently caught the attention of Lightspeed Champion who added him to his playlist as Topman Controller for May, and later invited him to play the stage he was hosting at the Great Escape Festival in Brighton. Later this year, Alan will be putting the final touches to his debut album, set for release in early 2010. Despite being likened to names such as Jack Johnson, Morrissey, and even Frank Sinatra, Alan prefers to play down such comparisons. 'It's still work in progress' he says confidently, and if his past-progress is anything to go by, then one can only expect a bright future for him.

Jonathan Jeremiah is a dedicated man. His musical odyssey has taken him across the States in pursuit of his own musical American Dream. It's also seen him working solidly for seven years to realise the dream of recording his songs with some of his musical heroes. And now the dedication, the time spent, the miles covered and the money saved has all paid off with his E.P, 'What's A Guy Got To Do?'. To do this, he has surrounded himself with some big, big musical names: Questlove, Bernard Butler and James Brown's band The JBs.

Counting Fionn Regan, Tuung, Polly Paulusma and Beethoven amongst her influences eighteen year old Jose Vanders is a singer songwriter and pianist from South East London.
