About

Emo power-pop duel-fronted band

Get I Just Wanna Know What Happens When I'm Dead here

The Manchester-based power punks Hot Milk were formed in 2018 by vocalist and guitarist duo Han Mee and Jim Shaw. Having met at a bar and become fast friends, they’d been working behind the scenes in the city’s music industry for a couple of years before deciding it was time to make a go of things on their own. Mee and Shaw later roped in two friends – bassist Tom Paton and drummer Harry Deller – to join the group.

During a drunken songwriting session, the pair penned the material for Hot Milk’s debut EP Are You Feeling Alive? Released in 2019, the gutsy emo-pop collection featuring tracks like Awful Ever After and Wide Awake got them noticed as one of the most exciting new bands in the UK and led to the supporting slots on tours with Foo Fighters, Deaf Havana and You Me At Six.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Hot Milk spent much of 2020 writing and recording music, unveiling the single Glass Spiders that autumn.

In 2021, they revealed the title song from their second EP I Just Wanna Know What Happens When I’m Dead, due for release on 10 September 2021. Produced by Shaw, its five tracks are packed with their signature intense rock, sharp hooks and catchy choruses.

Confirmed to appear on the main stage at 2021’s Reading & Leeds festival, Hot Milk announced a headline UK tour to promote their sophomore EP that was rescheduled to September 2022.
