We're sorry, but we couldn’t find any events
Viking presents Greenwich Music Time returns this summer. The series of concerts, which celebrates its fifth anniversary, will take place from 1 – 7 July 2019, set amongst an impressive backdrop of the stunning Old Royal Naval College and the capital’s city skyline.
The Greenwich Music Time line-up for 2019 includes Cliff Richard, Paul Weller, Groove Armada and West End Proms.
Sir Cliff Richard was the first act announced and he'll appear on 1 July 2019. He performed at Greenwich Music Time back in 2017, which was sold out, and gained five-star reviews from various critics. This year's show promises to be even bigger and better, and will feature songs from his new album, Rise Up, as well as his best loved hits.
Greenwich Music Time will present West End Proms, a breathtaking evening of live music from the past seven decades of popular musical theatre, on 4 July. This immaculately performed and vividly compelling show will include songs from Les Misérables, Phantom Of The Opera, The Greatest Showman, Rock Of Ages, Wicked, Sunset Boulevard, Dear Evan Hansen and many more.
Groove Armada, one of the world’s biggest selling dance acts, is set to headline Green Music Time on 5 July. The multi-million selling, BRIT and Grammy award-nominated outfit will bring their unmistakable sound – from mellow, melodic chill-out tracks to electronic beats and uplifting dance anthems – to the festival. They performed a handful of intimate shows across the UK in 2018 to mark their 21st anniversary, and their GMT appearance is set to be even more spectacular.
Capping of the Greenwich Music Time line-up is a special concert from Paul Weller on 7 July. He released his critically acclaimed 14th studio album, True Meanings, last September, which shot straight to No.2 in the UK album charts. The Modfather and former Jam and Style Council icon remains at the very top of his game, with his recent shows selling out at London’s Royal Festival Hall.
Greenwich Music Time is hosted in a purpose-built outdoor arena, in the grounds of the magnificent Old Royal Naval College, overlooking the River Thames.
The centrepiece of the Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site, the classical buildings of the Old Royal Naval College were designed by England’s greatest architects and are considered amongst the finest in Europe. Featuring the sumptuous Painted Hall and the neo-classical Chapel, the site has seen a variety of uses, as Greenwich Palace, the Royal Naval Hospital of Seamen and then the Royal Naval College.
The classical buildings that make up the Old Royal Naval College today – including the iconic twin domes – were built for purpose as the Royal Hospital for Seamen, and date back to the 17th century.
Designed by England's most famous architect, Sir Christopher Wren, the buildings were built to house naval pensioners, retired veterans of Britain's navy. The grand Painted Hall was created for them to dine in, and painted by Sir James Thornhill.
A perfect, iconic setting to summer nights of live music, steeped in history and culture! Grab a little taste of it all for yourself with the full line-up announcement on the way!
