About Express Eventing International Cup

Express Eventing is one of the most exciting developments in the sport today. It is set to do for eventing what Twenty20 has done for international cricket.

The launch of the International Cup on 30 November 2008 promises to be a thrilling spectacle. Top riders from around the world will be coming together for the first ever Express Eventing competition and the chance to showcase their talents in the dramatic setting of the Millennium Stadium.

The Stadium is one of the great sporting arenas, providing spectators with fantastic views of all the action. For the first time, you will be able to see eventing's elite riders complete all three disciplines under one roof.

Eventing legend Mark Todd has signed up for the Express Eventing International Cup.

The New Zealander, who won individual gold medals at the 1984 and 1988 Olympics and came out of retirement to ride in this summer's Olympics in Hong Kong, will join the Who's Who from the equestrian world for what has been billed as the Twenty20 of eventing.

Todd will join the likes of British Olympians William Fox-Pitt and Mary King, Australian rivals Lucinda and Clayton Fredericks, and Kiwi team mate Andrew Nicholson in the line up for the glamorous new form of the sport.

Talented young Chinese rider Alex Hua Tain, who was educated at Eton, will compete against the couple who trained him - The Fredericks - at the inaugural Express Eventing International Cup at the Millennium Stadium on 30 November. Brit Oliver Townend has also been named in the line-up.

British riders Lucy Wiegersma, French rider Rudolphe Scherer, Italian Vittoria Panizzon, Kiwi Caroline Powell, Belgian Olympian Karin Donckers, German Dirk Schrade and American Philip Dutton are also part of the star-studded line-up.
