South London rapper ENNY draws from old school grime with her relaxed jazz and nimble flows. Best known for ‘Peng Black Girls’, a bouncing love letter to black women, Enny’s career started when she was uploading freestyle videos on YouTube while working in a bank. She was scouted by jazz-R&B singer-songwriter Jorja Smith who signed her to label FAMM and went on to feature in the remix of ‘Peng Black Girls’, which has amassed over 20 million streams to date.

While growing up, her career aspirations always circulated around creativity. Her mum was strict in letting her play outside, so she refined her skills as a natural performer by playing on her dad’s keyboard. She kept music as her side hustle for a while, but it was the drop of her freestyle ‘Vibeout’ in 2018 that gave her the push to record professionally and perform at open mic nights around London. 

Her debut EP Under Twenty Five is an honest portraiture of the essence of young adulthood. Her storytelling abilities shine through in ‘Keisha’s and Brenda’s’, a hard-hitting tale that explores sexual abuse, sexism and patriarchal pressure, while melodic opener ‘Same Old’ tackles love, gentrification and Brexit. For her first full body of work as a signed artist, her EP stands out as a confident introduction to ENNY’s flair for blending easy listening with straight-talking lyricism.
