About

Scottish pop rock titans

Scottish legends Deacon Blue are set to light up summer 2026 as they bring their signature sound and electrifying live tour to Scarborough.

The Real Gone Kid and Dignity hitmakers will headline TK Maxx presents Scarborough Open Air Theatre on Friday July 10 as part of The Great Western Road Trip Rolls On tour. It marks a welcome return for the band who performed a sold-out show at the venue in 2024. Performing their biggest hits alongside songs from their latest album The Great Western Road, Deacon Blue will be joined on the night by very special guests Lightning Seeds.

Speaking about hitting the road, frontman Ricky Ross said: “No one knows where The Great Western Road ends up, least of all us! For now the road goes on and next summer we are taking the shows to some beautiful outdoor venues. We can’t wait to see you there and we promise to make every night very special.”

Celebrating 40 years since Ross and Dougie Vipond first formed the band, Deacon Blue’s Scarborough headline show will be a career-spanning night of hits including Chocolate Girl, Wages Day and Fergus Sings The Blues — alongside highlights from The Great Western Road, their most successful studio release in more than three decades, reaching Number 3 in the UK and topping the Scottish Album Chart.

Recorded at the legendary Rockfield Studios, the album reunites Ross and guitarist Gregor Philp as producers, with engineer Matt Butler, who worked on Deacon Blue’s classic debut Raintown. The record captures the band’s journey across four decades, reflecting on life, love and longevity.

With more than 7 million albums sold, two UK Number One albums, and a songbook filled with heartfelt, singalong hits, Deacon Blue remain one of the UK’s most enduring and best-loved live acts. Their headline show in Scarborough promises to be a celebration of their remarkable story – and a showcase of a band still creating, evolving, and connecting with fans new and old.

Deacon Blue, as ever a rapturous evening was had. Every member of the band so talented, uplifting & enjoyable to watch. Been to many a DB event over the years at various locations. First time at this venue & staff seemed the friendliest bunch so far, a far better experience from staff at Bristol Beacon earlier on this year, who were unnecessarily heavy handed with folks. If the catering & merchandise were a little more affordable, Utilita would have received full marks, but cost of ticket, travel & accomodation already ate a big bite of the purse. Despite that a dazzling performance, that stays deep in the soul.

  • Worth the wait

Deacon blue was fantastic. They played like they did around 40 years ago. I thought the backing band Turin Brakes were also tremendous. I will be buying their greatest hits too. The crowd were so up for this concert with people dancing in the metal seating areas, I thought the seating platform was going to collapse. A great experience. Worth every penny. The vocals on both bands were A1 especially Ricky Ross and Lorraine McIntosh of Deacon Blue.

Deacon blue were on fire last night. They played some new songs, all the hits and from the moment they walked on stage they had the crowd eating out of their hands. They sounded as fresh as they did in the 80's and getting the crowd to sing dignity was a moment I will never forget. Brought tears to my eyes. Another fantastic gig from Ticketmaster.

Generally the event was good, but after seeing Deacon Blue at Sheffield City Hall this event in the larger Arena wasn't has personable and lost its quality. Our seats were in the first block of raised seats which were near the front of the block but it still seemed too far away from the performers.

Had a good seat and view of the stage and band seat 8 row P block 103 very entertaining evening the only criticism is that there's no hand rails on the steps so it can be a struggle for most people or thise with mobility issues

I was a fan 40 years ago and never seen in concert so nothing to compare to but was blown away by the quality of their vocals, professionalism and genuine love of what they do and their audience. They mixed old and new material perfectly and was truly one of the best concerts I've been to for lots of reasons.. such energy and make the age of 67 feel very young and fun
