One of the world’s most celebrated actors

Since 1989, Sir David Suchet has captivated people around the globe as Agatha Christie’s beloved Belgian detective Hercule Poirot, the man with the moustache who could solve any crime.

Over the years, he’s also brought many other great characters to life – including Lady Bracknell, Joe Keller, Cardinal Benelli and Gregory Solomon – from playwrights like Shakespeare, Oscar Wilde, Edward Albee, Arthur Miller and more.

Suchet became a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1973. He’s performed over 30 roles with the revered theatre company and remains an associate artist today.

In addition to heaps of acclaim, Suchet won an Emmy Award in 2008 for playing tycoon Robert Maxwell on the BBC film Maxwell. He has also received seven Olivier Award nominations for his performances in The Merchant of Venice, Oleanna, All My Sons, Separation, Amadeus, Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? and The Price.

Suchet was knighted in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2020 for his services to drama and charity in a career spanning 50 years.

In autumn 2021, he hit the road visiting theatres across the UK to share performances and memories in David Suchet – Poirot And More, A Retrospective. He also announced he would be taking that show to London’s Harold Pinter Theatre for three weeks in January 2022.

About the residency, Suchet said, “The West End and live theatre has always been very close to my heart. This show is my way of connecting and saying hello to people after this terrible period and welcoming them back into the theatre. I am looking forward to sharing my memories, stories and favourite moments.”

David Suchet – Poirot And More, A Retrospective will run in the West End from 4 – 22 January 2022.

David Suchet – Poirot And More, A Retrospective is set for a three-week residency at the Harold Pinter Theatre in London's West End.
