About David Bisbal

David Bisbal (Almería, June 5th 1979) started his professional music career at the age of 17 as a singer in the Orquesta Expresiones. A few years later, in 2002, he had the chance to publish his first solo album: "Corazón Latino".

Recorded in Miami and produced by Kike Santander, only in the first six months since its release it sold over a million copies due to hits like "Ave Maria" and "Lloraré las penas". A year after it was released over 1.5 million copies had been sold.

The huge success of the first album granted David Bisbal numerous awards, among them the "Premio Ondas 2002" in the best album of the year category, He was also nominated to the "Premios de la Música" (as Best New Artist) and to the "Premios Amigo" (Best New Artist and Best Album). It was the best selling album in Spain that year with over half a million copies over the second contestant. He achieved 13 Platinum Records and a Diamond Record.

His success crossed borders and David Bisbal was awarded with 10 golden records and 2 platinum records for the sales of "Corazon Latino" in the U.S.A. and Latin America. In 2003 he won the New International Artist in the Premios TV y Novelas de Mexico, Premio Oye to the Best Male Solo Performer, also in Mexico, and was considered the most promising new release by Ritmoson Latino. He won the award to the Best New Artist in the Latin Grammy Awards and was also nominated for the Best Male Vocal Pop Album, offering a spectacular performance in the Awards Ceremony in Miami. He won the World Music Award to the Best Latin Artist. This amazing success was followed by a Tour performing his first album across Latin America, including concerts in Buenos Aires, Caracas, Miami, Bogotá y México DF.

Without taking a break, David presented his second album "Bulería" in 2004, selling over a million copies in Spain and 300.000 in America. Between May 2004 and July 2005 he crossed Spain, U.S.A. and Latin America offering 114 under the "Buleria Tour" concept. In Spain alone, over 600.000 people enjoyed his music in 80 different concerts, proving that he had deeply moved and connected with the public, promising a big career ahead of him.

The unanimous response to "Bulería" was a wave of awards, including the award as "New Pop Artist" given by Univision, two Latin Music Fan Awards (New Artist of the Year and Best Solo Performer in Contemporany Music), 3 Billboard Awards (including the "Best Pop Album of the Year" award and the 2nd consecutive "Audience Award" voted by the public), two "Orgullosamente Latino" Awards to the Best Song of the Year ("Desnúdate Mujer") and Best Video ("Buleria") given by Ritmoson Latino.

But over all those awards, the most valuable recognition received by "Buleria" would bee the unanimous public ovation proven by 10 Platinum Records and one Diamond Record in Spain (were those figures granted him the #1 Album of the year again), 4 golden Records in the U.S.A. and Latin America and a IFPI Platinum Europe Award, given in Europe after selling over a million records, being the only Album that year achieving those sales. He also achieved #1 in radios around the globe, allowing David to be introduced in countries like Germany and Japan. At this point in his career he was turning into a truly international star and he celebrated this starting an international tour centred in South America.

After the warm welcome received by his live shows, his first DVD was released: "Todo por ustedes", featuring a full concert given in his previous tour, recorded at the Plaza de las Ventas in Madrid and Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona. This DVD did triple platinum DVD in Spain.

In October 2006 his third album "Premonición" was released, this instantly became another international success: "Quien me iba a decir", the first single, reached #1 in Spain, Venezuela, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Puerto Rico and United States. The track "Silencio" also reached #1 during 4 consecutive weeks. Other successful singles were "Amar es lo que quiero", "Torre de Babel", "Premonición" o "Silencio (Live Version)". On top of that, with the song "Soldado de papel", composed by David himself, he showed his most caring side, pointing out the explotation of children as soldiers in wars all around the world.

Bisbal was #1 again in sales, "Premonición" was the best selling album in Spain, reaching five times the Platinum Record status, and achieving Gold Record in the U.S.A., Puerto Rico, Venezuela and Ecuador. This album also received the Premio Ondas to the Best Spanish Artist, as a recognition of his evolution and huge international projection, two Premios Principales (Best Solo National Artist and Best Video award for "Quien me iba a decir"), and two "Orquideas de Diamante" and a "Mara de Diamante" in Venezuela for being the "International Singer of the Year".

Due to the great reception received by this album the "Premonición Tour 2007" was launched, visiting Spain, Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Uruguay, Paraguay, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Germany, Holland, Switzerland, Austria and Japan, where his song "Boom Boom Boom (Oye el Boom)" was an enormous hit and reached #1 in the radio international chart. This Tour was the greatest one ever to that date and on the back of this "Premonition live", a double CD + double DVD deluxe edition with lots of extras, was released.
This release closed an important cycle of over a year and a half that won him the 2006 Ondas Award to the Best National Artist and the 2007 Amigo's People Award.

In October 2009 David published a new album: "Sin Mirar Atrás", which reached #1 in the U.S.A. and in Spain (turning triple Platinum record almost instantly). This album meant a dozen #1 in the radio charts of 7 countries and sales charts with the two first singles: "Esclavo de sus besos" and "Mi Princesa".

The live performance of this album was, once again, a tremendous success with sold-out venues all trough his Spanish tour and later on crossing the Atlantic to achieve the same success in Latin America.

David was the performer of the Soccer World Cup song "Wavin' Flag", the official Coca-Cola theme for South Africa 2010, giving concerts trough Latin America and the U.S.A. before the Soccer World Cup kicked off. Week after week his version of this song grew, linked to the success of the Spanish Team.
David Bisbal participated in a very special way in one of the most emotional moments in the sports history sharing the stage with the Spanish Team while celebrating the return of this winning team to Madrid: more than 250.000 people were present at this event, and millions of spectators followed it through the many national and international TV broadcasts.

After the 2010 "Sin Mirar Atras SMA World Tour" a commemorative special edition of this album was released in a spectacular Double CD + DVD format, including the Live concert in CD format, studio unreleased material (like his duet with Miley Cyrus) or the track "Soñar (My life)" from the OST of the animation movie "Gru, mi favourite villain" and other surprises.
This edition reached triple Platinum Record in Spain and the Gold Record status in the U.S.A., Venezuela and Argentina. He also lent his voice to the OST of the international acclaimed TV serial-drama "Herederos"

In 2011 David Bisbal is presenting his first acoustic tour that will run trough 2012 thanks to the warm welcome given to this acoustic set by the public and the great reviews obtained form the press. This new "David Bisbal Acoustic Tour" is set up in an elegant and classy way, and the musical arrangements give this show, based on his greatest hits repertoire, a new dimension. It's an unique show where the public enjoy a closeness and complicity with the artist and are able to see him closer than ever. This acoustic tour will visit the best theatres and auditoriums in Spain and Latin-America, proving his new side as a modern crooner. Right now he is performing in Argentina, Chile and Uruguay. He will come back to Spain on November's 1st to offer a unique concert in Madrid's Royal Theatre, a new step in David's musical career. This magical and exclusive night will be recorded and released this Christmas in a deluxe DVD Edition

David Bisbal's career has reached his all-time-high right now, with global sales of over 4.5 million records, more than 50 international awards and, above all, the love and respect of the people. His success has reach international levels, this is an undisputable fact proven by more than 60 Platinum and Gold records in Spain and America, 2 IFPI Platinum Awards, more than 500 concerts all around the world and the public acclaim as one of the most touching artist in History.
