About Christmas At Kew
There’s something for everyone as the one-mile sparkling path winds its way through the world famous botanical gardens in a magical after dark experience. Now in its fifth year, the new 2017 winter trail at Kew boasts over 1,000,000 twinkling lights.
Follow the path lit by 1,000 illuminated globes towards glittering trees dripping with silvery shards of light, snowflakes and stars. The mesmerising voices of the Singing Trees can be heard in the distance as you stroll towards the Lake and pause at the waterside reflections and underwater lights that playfully glow. It’s a place where fairy-tale meets fantasy.
There are hidden surprises too – watch out for the woodland walk along Bubble Path, giant baubles where you least expect them and clusters of trees wrapped in ever-changing ribbons of light. This year The Fire Garden flickers as an avenue of Christmas trees surrounded by festive flames, whilst the Gardens and the Broadwalk are magically transformed, replanted with bright larger-than-life neon reeds, vibrant petals and gigantic flowers.
Christmas at Kew wouldn’t be same without the Palm House Pond springing to life with brightly coloured crisscrossing laser beams, jumping jets of light that dance in time to much-loved Christmas classics and new for 2017, kaleidoscopic projections play across a giant water screen.
Why not complete your treat under the stars with spiced cider, mulled wine or hot chocolate whilst the aroma of roasting chestnuts fills the air. Gather to toast your own marshmallows and enjoy Kew’s well stocked gift shops and other traditional fare.
For the young ones, the playful atmosphere of White Peaks will welcome you with a Victorian carousel*, helter skelter* and other family rides* and don’t forget to look out for Santa and his elves at the North Pole along the way.
