About Charles Aznavour
The legendary Charles Aznavour is returning to London's Royal Albert Hall at the end of June 2018.
The French chanson star is considered to be one of the greatest singer-songwriters of all time and enjoyed major success in the UK with his No.1 single She which featured in the blockbuster film Notting Hill. He has had further hits with The Old Fashioned Way and Yesterday When I Was Young.
Last performing at the Royal Albert Hall to a sell-out audience in 2015, 93-year-old Aznavour will present his greatest hits taken from his staggering collection of 294 albums. As the oldest artist to headline the Royal Albert Hall, Aznavour remains a prolific touring artiste.
Earlier this year, he was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, capping off a more than 70-year career.
Aznavour began his extraordinary career selling his words and music to the Paris boulevardiers of the '40s and '50s – Edith Piaf, Maurice Chevalier and Charles Trenet.
Over the years, his songs have influenced some of the most successful artists of all time. Elton John, Sammy Davis Jr, Fred Astaire and Celine Dion are just few names to have recorded his beloved songs.
Aznavour, who was born in Paris to Armenian parents, has sold more than 100 million records in 80 countries. He has been described as France's equivalent to Frank Sinatra.
