Brian Cox and Robin Ince return with Brian & Robin's Christmas Compendium this festive season
Professor Brian Cox and Robin Ince of Radio 4’s The Infinite Monkey Cage are bringing their unique blend of comedy, music and science to the stage at the Royal Albert Hall this December 2021 for Brian & Robin’s Christmas Compendium.
Brian Cox credits the love he had for the book Cosmos by Carl Sagan as a child for his decision to become a physicist. However, Cox did turn his hand to music for a time, playing keyboard with rock band, Dare, in the 80s and 90s. The group released two albums before Cox joined the group D:Ream who went on to have several hits including Things Can Only Get Better.
During this time, Cox studied physics, earning his first-class honours degree. After D:Ream split, Cox returned to his studies to complete his Doctor of Philosophy degree in high-energy particle physics at the University of Manchester.
Cox has co-written a number of books including The Quantum Universe with Jeff Forshaw. The physicist also began appearing on a number of BBC radio and TV channels from 2010, appearing on shows like Horizon, In Einstein’s Shadow, and hosting Wonders Of The Solar System and the follow-up series, Wonders Of The Universe and Wonders Of Life.
Since 2009, Cox has co-presented the BBC Radio 2 programme, The Infinite Monkey Cage, with comedian Robin Ince. He also joined Ince on his Nine Lessons And Carols For Godless People.
Robin Ince took his first steps into the world of comedy in 1990, appearing at the Edinburgh Festival in a play called Shadow Walker. He also appeared alongside Stephen Merchant, Jimmy Carr and Ricky Gervais in the show Rubbernecker at the festival in 2001.
Ince opened as a support act for his close friend Ricky Gervais in both 2004 on his Politics tour and in 2007 on his Fame tour. By 2008, the comedian released his own live stand-up DVD called Robin Ince Is As Dumb As You.
As The Infinite Monkey Cage show grew popular on BBC Radio 2, Ince also headed on tour in his Happiness Through Science UK tour in 2011. In 2015, Ince announced his retirement from stand-up comedy and went on to start his own production company called Cosmic Shambles Network “for people with curious minds”, working on podcasts, documentaries and events.
Brian & Robin's Christmas Compendium will take place on Tuesday, December 14, 2021.
