The Exeter trio tour the UK in March 2021

Black Foxxes emerged from Devon in the early 2010s. Formed by vocalist and guitarist Mark Holley – inspired by artists like Neil Young and Ryan Adams – they aimed to create unflinchingly raw, unfiltered music from the onset.

Rounded out by Tristan Jane and Ant Thornton, the trio released the EP Pines in late 2014 to positive reviews. Throughout 2015, Black Foxxes began to build a loyal following via performances for BBC Introducing and at Reading & Leeds Festival, as well as support slots with bands such as Deerhunter and Lower Than Atlantis.

Their debut album I’m Not Well came out in 2016, with many of the songs detailing Holley’s personal struggles with anxiety and depression. It was not only well received by fans and critics, it also garnered Black Foxxes two nominations at the 2017 Heavy Awards for Best Breakthrough Band and Best Album Artwork.

While relentlessly touring for much of 2017, Holley sought solace in the barren landscapes of Iceland where he wrote most of their follow-up album, 2018’s Reiði (the Icelandic word for anger). Featuring the singles Saela, JOY and Manic In Me, the new collection saw them deviate towards a pop-metal sound.

Throughout 2020, Black Foxxes found themselves in a period of transition. Jane and Thornton departed to be replaced by drummer Finn McClean and Holley’s longstanding friend and bassist Jack Henley.

On 17 August 2020, Black Foxxes announced their eponymous third album would be released on 30 October 2020 and supported with a UK headline tour in March 2021.
