About

A self-confessed pop ‘bi-con’

Drawing comparisons to Avril Lavigne, Miley Cyrus and P!nk, the ‘IDK How To Talk To Girls’ singer has exploded onto the scene with her knack for vulnerable yet playful lyricism and emotionally charged live performances.

Beth McCarthy, a pop-rock singer from York, first gained attention as a 16-year-old contestant on The Voice UK in 2014. Since then, she has gone on to carve out her own path, gaining a loyal following for her achingly relatable lyrics and pertinent LGBTQ+ themes. Aided by a perfectly pitched TikTok presence and a rapidly growing reputation for her compelling live performances, Beth McCarthy enjoyed her first viral breakout single ‘She Gets The Flowers’ in 2021. Introducing fans to her unique blend of breezy pop melodies and powerful rock vocals, the track quickly garnered critical and commercial success, and remains McCarthy’s most-listened-to effort with more than 23 million Spotify streams to date.

Building upon the success of ‘She Gets The Flowers’, Beth McCarthy went on to release singles ‘What Do You Call It’ and ‘She’s Pretty’ which later appeared on her five-track EP IDK How To Talk To Girls (2023). Continuing the theme, the guitar-heavy EP placed McCarthy’s incredible vocals at the fore, whilst grappling with topics such as sexuality, relationships and self-discovery through a Gen Z lens. More recently, songs like ‘Good Bi’, ‘All My Friends Are Hot’ and ‘Hot and Stupid’ have further bolstered her back catalogue, satiating her fans’ appetite for yet more sapphic music that’s ripe for crowd singalongs.

Unsurprisingly, Beth McCarthy is as revered for her high-energy live performances as she is for her digital releases; captivating audiences all over the globe with her guitar-driven pop, raw vocals and interactive stage presence. Filled with rousing rock-pop anthems as well as pauses for her more introspective work, her shows are also a celebration of empowerment and self-expression, with McCarthy fostering a sense of community amongst her LGBTQ+ peers and allies. Following the success of her 2024 EP IDK How To Talk To Girls, she embarked on a sold-out UK and EU tour, a considerable four times larger than her previous, and topped with a headline show at London’s Heaven marking a major career milestone. That same year also saw McCarthy appear at major festivals such as BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Mighty Hoopla and Pinkpop in the Netherlands, as well as slots at various Pride celebrations across Europe.
