About
The 80's pop great returns with a winter acoustic tour
Kim Wilde has announced that her Wilde Winter Acoustic tour returns to UK venues in December 2023, performing seasonal favourites alongside some of her inimitable hits.
Born in West London in 1960, Wilde hit the 1980s with force with her debut single 'Kids in America', which with its lazer-like synths, pulsating bass and catchy chorus, was an instant hit all across Europe. Working together with her songwriting family, brother Ricky and father Marty, Wilde released her self-titled debut album in June 1981. The LP also included the likes of 'Water On Glass' and 'Chequered Love'.
The singer remained a popular name on the continental charts throughout the decade, with tracks such as 'Cambodia', 'Love Blonde', 'View from a Bridge' and 'Rage to Love.' But in 1988 her success rocketed with the album Close, which spent month after month on the album charts back home with hits such as 'Four Letter Word,' 'You Came' and 'Never Trust A Stranger'. Wilde also had an ear for a cover, releasing popular renditions of Brenda Lee's 'Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree' for Comic Relief in 1987 and then later in 1993 with a cover of Bee Gees' 'If I Can't Have You.'
The 90s saw Wilde release The Singles Collection and embark on a greatest hits world tour, but continued to perform and release new music well into the new millennium. In 2021 the singer celebrated her 40th anniversary with a new Greatest Hits LP, the fittingly titled Pop Don't Stop.
