About

Boy George’s award-winning musical

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of Taboo, a special star-studded charity concert featuring members of the original cast is being staged at the London Palladium on 30 January 2022.

Featuring music and lyrics by Boy George and Kevan Frost with a book by Mark Davies Markham, the story is set amid the excess and decadence of London in the ’80s. That was when designer and performance artist Leigh Bowery opened Taboo, the city’s most fashionable nightclub. With Boy George and other famous faces from the New Romantic scene as regular guests, Taboo quickly became the hottest spot in town. And against this vibrant backdrop, a love story unfolds.

The original 2002 West End production of Taboo helped launch the careers of many popular performers including Luke Evans, Matt Lucas, Declan Bennett, Diane Pilkington, Stephen Ashfield, Euan Morton and John Partridge. Plus, it gave West End musical debuts to stars such as Julian Clary, Lynn Paul and Boy George himself.

Christopher Renshaw, the original West End and Broadway director of Taboo, is back at the helm of the infectious musical which will benefit two important organisations – Terrence Higgins Trust, the UK’s leading HIV and sexual health charity, and Shelter, dedicated to the belief that everyone should have a home.
