The kaleidoscopic psyche-pop French collective
La Femme took root in 2010 when keyboardist Marlon Magnée and guitarist Sacha Got became friends in secondary school in Biarritz, France. Following their dream of starting a rock band, they moved to Paris and filled out the group by meeting singer Clémence Quélennec, bassist Sam Lefevre and drummer Noé Delmas through the internet. Over the years they’ve also been joined by vocalists Alma Jodorowsky, Clara Luciani, Grâce Hartzel and Jane Peynot.
Inspired by everything around them, La Femme’s music is an assimilation of sounds and influences. Their debut album Psycho Tropical Berlin came out in 2013 and paid homage to punk and surf rock. It also saw the band win a Victoires de la Musique award, which is the equivalent of a Grammy.
Their second album, Mystère, arrived in 2016 and peaked at No.8 on the French charts. Playful and ebullient, this collection of songs encompassed everything from psych disco to ’90s Motown hip hop.
Like their music, La Femme’s live shows have a reputation for being aesthetically rich and decadent. They’ve travelled the world playing festivals like Glastonbury, Sziget in Hungary, Austin Psych Fest and Music Wins in Argentina.
In 2020, La Femme released three big singles: the cinematic Paradigme with grandiose brass instrumentation, the hyperactive Disconnexion that includes a touch of banjo, and the majestic Cool Colorado, which evokes the glorious smoke in the Rockies.
In early February 2021, La Femme confirmed their third album Paradigmes filled with beautifully curated electropop would come out on 2 April 2021 and be supported by a show at London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town on 13 January 2022.
La Femme have announced a UK show in support of their new record Paradigmes for 13 January 2022.
La Femme are playing a special show in London in early 2022 at O2 Forum Kentish Town.
Tickets for La Femme's 2022 London show go on sale from 14:00 on Thursday 11 February 2021.
