About

British & Irish Lions to play Japan in first-ever clash

A historic Rugby Union fixture between the British & Irish Lions and Japan has been announced for Saturday 26 June 2021.

Called the Vodafone Lions 1888 Cup, the Test match will see the Lions play their first home game since 2005. It follows the first year a touring team has visited Australia and New Zealand.

This is also the first time the world’s greatest touring side and the Brave Blossoms will face each other, with the Vodafone Lions 1888 Cup serving as the start of the Lions’ South African tour, which culminates in a three Test series against Rugby World Cup champions, the Springboks.
