About

Scottish DJ with infectious, triumphant EDM hooks and an expansive catalogue of high-profile collaborations

It’s easy to forget that Calvin Harris was discovered on social media, before it was the done way to unearth every next big thing. The much-awarded DJ, producer and singer-songwriter – who has cemented himself over the last two decades as one of the biggest names in dance music – launched his career on Myspace, where he was found and scooped up in 2006 by Sony BMG.

His debut album I Created Disco arrived the following year and reached No.8 on the UK albums chart. From there came a steady stream of chart toppers, from 2009’s No.1 album Ready For The Weekend to his fifth studio album, 2017’s Funk Wav Bounces Vol 1, which became his third consecutive project to take the No.1 spot on the US Dance/Electronic Albums Chart. Amongst his many accolades (including a staggering 18 BRIT Award nominations) is an all-time record for the most top 10 songs from one album to be placed in the UK Singles Chart – eight, to be precise. This was a record previously held by none other than Michael Jackson.

With five successful albums under his belt, in 2018 Harris turned his attention to standalone projects, producing singles with the likes of Dua Lipa, Sam Smith and Normani. In early 2020, spurred by a desire to “rediscover the way he originally began producing music 22 years ago”, he assumed a new alias and released three EPs under the name Love Regenerator. By August of that year, however, Calvin Harris was back to release ‘Over Now’ with The Weeknd. Harris now alternates between the two monikers, with Love Regenerator taking the reins again in January 2022 for a collaboration with Riva Starr and Sananda Maitreya entitled ‘Lonely’.

Harris began 2023 with a collaboration with Ellie Goulding on the single 'Miracle' before playing Coachella in April.
