About

Amsterdam Duo blending classic disco with modern house energy

Oguz Han Guney and Jesse Van Der Heijden have built a reputation for high-energy house music that draws on disco, funk, soul, and jazz. They burst onto the scene in 2015 with a series of club appearances around Amsterdam and two debut EPs, Strobe on DFTD and Want My Love via Snatch! Records. By 2016, ANOTR had solidified their early sound, releasing Mighty Kingdom on DFTD and the underground favourite ‘What Is House’ through Avotre.

Their journey took a decisive turn in 2017 when they founded their own label, NO ART, introducing it with a rework of Armand Van Helden’s ‘Funk Phenomena’. This move not only showcased their skill in reshaping dance classics but also set the stage for a series of notable releases, including the EP Help and the single ‘Boogieman’. Through NO ART, ANOTR pushed their eclectic style further, dropping singles on labels like Material Series and Solid Grooves Records, with highlights like 2018’s ‘Summer in the Studio’ and 2019’s ‘Turn on Me’.

In 2020, ANOTR reached new creative peaks with the EPs Don’t Mind Ya Weight, Retpoid Meetings, and Paint A Picture. The following year saw the release of Due EP, a collaboration with Toman, which captured ANOTR’s knack for blending grooves with atmospheric depth. This collaborative spirit continued into 2022 with EXPO Series 001, a collection of unreleased tracks, marking ANOTR’s growing influence in the club circuit.

That same year, ANOTR released The Reset, their debut full-length, which fused fresh disco and boogie influences with house. Standout tracks like ‘Vertigo’, ‘Your Mind’, and ‘Relax My Eyes’ (in collaboration with Abel Balder) quickly became fan favourites, while contributions from Willem Mulder, KAMAE, and King Wonder Bread deepened the album’s diverse sonic palette.

By 2024, ANOTR continued to push boundaries, dropping the singles ‘How You Feel’ with Erik Bandt and Leven Kali, and ‘24 (Turn It Up)’ featuring Kurtis Wells. Each release reaffirms ANOTR’s place on the cutting edge of modern dance music, seamlessly blending the past with the future of house.
