Most people would be happy with just being a West End star. Or a three-time world karate champion. Or a multi-platinum selling musician. That Essex singer Anne-Marie has been all three tells you a lot about her dedication. If Anne-Marie does something, she does it incredibly well.
Following a promising West End stint that included Whistle Down The Wind and Les Misérables and a hugely impressive martial arts career, Anne-Marie turned her hand to pop music, almost immediate attracting high profile fans in Elton John and Ed Sheeran. She signed with John’s management company, Anne-Marie stepped back to develop as an artist before a proper tilt at the big time.
After collaborations with prominent house, garage and dubstep outfits (including Magnetic Man, Gorgon City and Raized By Wolves), Anne-Marie came into Rudimental’s sphere. She featured on two songs on the band’s 2015 second album, touring with them for two years.
Anne-Marie’s debut EP finally arrived in 2017. Successive singles from Karate moved the singer further and further up the charts. Her profile was raised even further with an appearance on Clean Bandit’s 'Rockabye' single. Anne-Marie’s next two solo singles charted well, paving the way for her multi-platinum debut album Speak Your Mind in 2018, which contained the hit single 'Friends'. A collaboration with Doja Cat on 'To Be Young' rounded out a hugely successful year.
Following a winning stint as a judge on The Voice, Anne-Marie released her second album Therapy in July 2021. She published her first book You Deserve Better: An Imperfect Guide To Finding Your Own Happiness later that year and finished 2021 as the winner of the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special.
Anne-Marie continued her run of high-profile collaborations through 2022 and 2023, releasing singles with Seventeen, Aitch and Neiked, David Guetta and Coi Leray. In May 2023, she released maybe her most unexpected team-up to date after a social media conversation with Shania Twain led to the two collaborating on 'Unhealthy', the title track from Anne-Marie's third album.
