About

Rising indie-pop star

Bedfordshire-born Alfie Templeman grew up as part of a family that loves music. Passionate about guitars, his father filled the house with classic rock, while his sister played piano and trumpet – so naturally he too was bit by the performing bug.

Templeman recorded his first demo at the age of eight, using a toy microphone and old laptop. While other boys were playing football, he was not only teaching himself how to play different instruments (from cello, mandolin and harmonica to drums, base, keyboard and guitar), but also how to record and produce music.

In 2016, the 13-year-old wunderkind began recording his own material professionally. He self-released a series of EPs – Wonderland Dreamin’, Dazed Days and 5th Avenue Revisited – between 2017 and 2018. That caught the attention of Chess Club Records. After signing to the label, Templeman released the EP Like An Animal in late 2018 featuring a collection of songs about feeling like an outsider and the enormity of first crushes.

Two more EPs – Sunday Morning Cereal and Don’t Go Wasting Time – followed in 2019, boasting influences ranging from funk to dreamy psychedelia. In 2020, Templeton’s irrepressible EP Happiness In Liquid Form peaked at No.22 on the UK indie chart.

Templeman was longlisted for the BBC Sound Of 2021 poll. That same year, he released his debut album, Mellow Moon, which mixed effervescent electro-pop with emotive indie-rock. After collaborating with Todd Rundgren on the revered songwriter's album Space Force, Templeman returned with word of his second album Radiosoul, which saw the rising star working with Nile Rogers and Dan Carey.
