About

Alan Cumming Is Not Acting His Age

One of Scotland's greatest eccentrics, Alan Cumming is bringing his solo show Is Not Acting His Age to London, Manchester and Glasgow in 2024. Featuring bellowing songs and discussions that cover the classics – sex, death and bacchanalia – join Cumming as he questions what it really means to act your age.

Born in Perthshire in 1965, Cumming cut his teeth at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and he'd hardly finished before landing roles on stage and on screen, from the soap Take The High Road to his Olivier Award-nominated Conquest of the South Pole. He then went on to win this award for Best Comedy Performance in Accidental Death Of An Anarchist. His Hamlet in 1993 hailed him as "an actor knocking at the door of greatness." He has also directed and produced plays such as Bonjour La, Bonjour and made his directorial debut for screen in 2000 with the ensemble film The Anniversary Party.

Cummings roles for cinema vary from independent films such as Titus and Sweet Land to blockbusters like Golden Eye, X2 and Spy Kids.

These days, you can find him hosting The Traitors, directing a podcast about sperm heists, curating Australian cabaret or creating dance theatre in honour of Robert Burns.
