Following phenomenal ticket sales and rapturous reviews, BBC ONE's A Question of Sport is to hit the road again for a second UK tour. To meet unprecedented demand, the UK's longest running and most popular sports quiz will embark upon a 22-date UK tour across all major cities from 22 October- 20 November 2011. Tickets for the tour are selling fast with Leicester, Bristol and Oxford already sold-out and other cities not far behind.

Promoters have unveiled some of the top talent who will be joining presenter SUE BARKER and captains MATT DAWSON and PHIL TUFNELL when BBC ONE's A Question of Sport hits London on its second live tour. The tour hits the Hammersmith HMV Apollo on 14 and 15 November 2010.

The confirmed panellists read like a who's who of sporting legends from Olympic medallists to world-class footballers, international rugby marvels to superstar cricketers.

To celebrate the London 2012 Olympics, the first night on Monday 14 November will feature a selection of the UK's top flight athletic talent.  Two-time Commonwealth champion and former Olympian COLIN JACKSON, Olympic hurdle gold medallist SALLY GUNNELL, triple jump champion PHILLIPS IDOWU and 400m Commonwealth Record Holder IWAN THOMAS will battle it out.

The show on 15 November will feature a stellar line up of A Question of Sport favourites past and present. These include the show longest serving team capital (14 years) and former England rugby captain BILL BEAUMONT, England cricket legend ANDREW FLINTOFF Welsh international footballer and award-winning radio presenter ROBBIE SAVAGE. One further special guest will be announced.

Across the rest of the UK, superstar sporting legends have also been announced. Amongst the bookings include former England tennis no. 1 TIM HENMAN,  former world snooker champion DENNIS TAYLOR, the most successful World Superbike racer of all time CARL FOGARTY, retired English footballer DION Dublin, tennis professional and broadcaster ANDREW CASTLE and Olympic silver medallist and TV commentator SHARRON DAVIES. Further big regional panellists will be announced shortly.

After entertaining millions of viewers every week BBC One's A Question of Sport hit a record-breaking 940th episode earlier this year after over 40 years on air. The idea to take the live-show on the road was developed to meet fans insatiable demand to get up close and personal with the show. The live tour provides fans with a chance to witness this much loved TV show in an exhilarating live environment.
The specially staged live show, licensed by BBC Worldwide and produced by Live Nation and Merlin Music & Live, allows fans to see their favourite rounds in a thrilling and exciting live environment from the 'Picture Board' to 'Mystery Guest' to 'What Happened Next.'

Although largely sticking to the small-screen format, the tour is more than just a live version of the show. Over 30 big name sports stars with regional connections will be added as panellists and there will be exciting and electrifying live and interactive rounds where team captains and panellists can really engage with the audience. On the last tour sporting legends including Ian Botham, Tim Henman, Peter Shilton, Robbie Savage, Jamie Redknapp, Darren Gough, Dennis Taylor, Tom Daley, Amy Williams and Colin Jackson became rock stars for the night switching sports-grounds for arenas and performing to thousands of overjoyed fans.
Translating the TV show into a theatre setting has also allowed the team to add some exciting new twists and surprises to the show. Audience members become part of the action, directly posing questions to the teams and getting involved in some of the rounds.. There is also a referee to keep the lively teams in order.
Presenter Sue Barker has the toughest job of keeping order for each show, in particular resident team captains Matt Dawson and Phil Tufnell. On each date Matt & Phil will both be joined by two stars from the world of sport. The two sporting panellists on Matt and Phil's teams will change in each city and will have a strong regional connection. The complete line-up of sporting celebrities for each date will be announced shortly.
Sue, Matt and Phil are all extremely excited about getting back on the road;

Sue Barker commented;
"I don't think any of us ever envisaged how much fun a live tour could be. Seeing the reaction of thousands of people to Matt and Phil's antics every night was just amazing. We were also truly privileged to have some brilliantly entertaining sports stars join us across the tour. It was just such an enjoyable experience. Yes I have my hands full trying to control Matt & Phil, that never changes but in a live setting it is much more exciting."
Matt Dawson added;
"You cannot under estimate the adrenalin rush you getting looking out at thousands of people in an audience, hearing them laughing and cheering you on. It is so exhilarating. The live tour is the biggest buzz I've had in a long time. It's almost like competing in a major sporting tournament, I have my side, Phil has his side and the audience cheers us on. We just cannot wait to do it all again."
Phil Tufnell concluded;
"We had such a blast on the last tour and we can't wait to get back on the road. The sports panellists also had such a good time and I can't wait to see who is going to join us this time around."
At over 40 years old, A Question of Sport is the longest running TV sports quiz show in the UK and possibly the world. Over 2000 of the biggest names in British and International sports have appeared on the programme since its early days. In four decades the show has only had three presenters.
The starting gun was fired for A Question of Sport in 1970, in a show which featured two bona fide British legends - boxer Henry Cooper and footballing icon George Best. The first host was David Vine, the veteran sports presenter who hosted everything from Match of the Day to Grandstand. David Coleman took over from Vine in the late 70s, and remained in the chair until 1997 when the honours went to Sue Barker.
England Rugby Union player Matt Dawson replaced Frankie Dettori as team captain in 2004 and former England International Cricketer Phil Tufnell took over from Ally McCoist in 2008, becoming the programme's 14th regular team captain since 1970. The duo followed in the footsteps of sporting legends Cliff Morgan, Henry Cooper, Fred Trueman, Brendan Foster, Bobby Moore, Gareth Edwards, Willie Carson, Emlyn Hughes, Bill Beaumont, Ian Botham, John Parrott and Ally McCoist.
