Childish Gambino, AKA rapper, writer, actor and all-round entertainer Donald Glover, is doing two huge dates at London's O2 Arena in March 2019.
In January 2018, Glover signed to RCA records, before releasing the politically-charged single This Is America in May, which earned him his first number one. A provocative video accompanied the song, directed by Japanese filmmaker and frequent collaborator Hiro Murai with lyrics addressing gun violence in America as well as race issues.
Childish Gambino previously held three live performances – known as the "Pharos Experience" – in September 2016 in Joshua Tree, California, where he debuted songs from his third studio album Awaken, My Love! to critical acclaim. The performances were recorded and later accompanied the vinyl release of the album in December 2016. The album was certified gold and nominated for Album of the Year and Best Urban Contemporary Album at the 2018 Grammy Awards.
Prior to this Glover released the albums Camp in 2011 and Because The Internet in 2013, as well as numerous mix-tapes and guest spots for artists including Leona Lewis. He performed comedy routines as part of his IAMDONALD tour in 2011.
In addition to his music career, Glover wrote for NBC sitcom 30 Rock between 2006 and 2009, and was presented with the Writers Guild of America Award in 2009. He also starred in Community alongside Joel McHale, Alison Brie and Chevy Chase that same year. In recent years he co-created and starred in FX music-themed show Atlanta.
Last summer, he headlined the Lovebox Festival at London’s Gunnersbury Park.
