Bullet for My Valentine is a heavy metal band from Wales. They released their debut album in 2005, yet they had originally formed as a band in 1998 under the name of Jeff Killed John. Although they did record songs as Jeff Killed John they were not released as official singles or albums, although they did release a number of EPs before their first album. Years later a couple of early tracks were reworked and released under the Bullet for My Valentine name. In their early years, before official singles and album releases, they performed cover versions of popular heavy metal bands such as Metallica and Nirvana, whom they list among their influences along with Iron Maiden and Slayer
The Poison was to be Bullet for My Valentine's first official album release and it came out on 3 October 2005 in the UK. The first album delivered four singles for the band: Suffocating Under Words of Sorrow What Can I Do, 4 Words To Choke Upon, Tears Don't Fall and All These Things I Hate Revolve Around Me. The second album came out in 2008 on 29 January and was called Scream Aim Fire, this yielded three singles. 2010 saw the release of the third album, Fever, and in 2013 the band's fourth album, Temper Temper, hit the charts. Bullet for My Valentine had released the single Temper Temper on 25 November 2012 before announcing that this would be the title of their fourth album.
The band promoted their first album by taking a tour around the world and subsequently toured to promote each of their albums with lots of tour time in North America, Canada and the US. With a growing fan base they began to be invited to perform at festivals and as their popularity grew they moved up the billing at many prestigious gigs.
