Between whirlwind and lull, prowess and poetry, Saltimbanco takes spectators on an allegorical and acrobatic journey into the heart of the city.
Following the critically acclaimed UK tour of Qudiam , Cirque Du Soleil, is to return to the UK with an arena tour of its vibrant signature production SALTIMBANCO, created by Franco Dragone. This timeless Cirque opus hits the UK Arenas for the first time with a series of exclusive shows in Sheffield, Liverpool, Glasgow, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Dublin, Nottingham and London. Tickets for the tour go on sale from Friday 11th December 2009.

Saltimbanco is Cirque du Soleil's longest running major touring show which has toured the world since 1992 to wide-spread acclaim and has enjoyed sell-out success across the world in Europe, North and South America, Australia, Japan, and New Zealand performing to over 11 million fans.

In the UK, The Times hailed the show "Gracefully athletic theatre" , America's Variety Magazine added "Human exuberance and physicality, the performers enthrall with one act after another"", whilst the New York Times was equal in its praise stating "Myth meets magic...... An unearthly mixture of commedia dell'arte and rock-concert razzle...."

With a cast of over 50 high-caliber artists hailing from 20 countries Saltimbanco is set to enthrall. From the seemingly impossible balancing, jumping and spinning during the Chinese Poles or the Russian Swing to the gravity-defying Bungees and Trapeze, the crowd pleasing Juggling and Acrobatic Bicycle, to the celebrated and very unique Clowns. Directions:
By road: From the North: From junction 34 on the M1, take the third exit off the roundabout. Travel along the viaduct to the next roundabout. Take the A6178 towards Sheffield City Centre and Attercliffe. The arena is approximately one mile on the left just past Toys R Us. From the South: From junction 34 on the M1, take the second exit off the roundabout. Travel along the A6178 towards Sheffield City Centre and Attercliffe. The arena is approximately one mile on the left just past Toys R Us. The arena is clearly signposted and is located on the A6178 at the corner of Attercliffe Common and Broughton Lane. The Hallam FM Arena is one of the country's largest indoor entertainment venues, with a capacity of over 12,000. Therefore on the day of the event heavy and slow moving traffic can be expected on all approaches.

Parking:
Nearly 1,300 on-site car parking spaces are available with an additional over-flow facility for 700 cars.

Only limited on-street parking is available around the Arena.

Parking is limited to a first come first served basis.

Park and Ride facilities are available from the train station at Meadowhall Shopping Centre and off the Sheffield Parkway (A630).

Public Transportation:
By tram: The Arena has its own supertram stop, with park and ride facilities at all main entries to the city. More information and timetables can be found at www.supertram.com.Trams run approximately every ten minutes from 06:00 until midnight.
By rail: Sheffield Intercity is two miles from the arena. Get a taxi from the station or the bus station is just opposite. Meadowhall interchange is an alternative station. For train information call (0114) 272 6411
By bus: Routes 17, 69, 130, 208, 209, 210, 287, 424, X5, X40,X69 and X73 all serve the venue.
