Australian actor Josef Brown is in the West End playing Johnny Castle in Dirty Dancing. We caught up with him to find out more about the show, and what it's like being admired by so many ladies!

1. So Josef, how would you compare playing Johnny Castle in London with your native Australia?
My hip-shot answer is that I don't compare them. It's obviously a different experience being in Dirty Dancing here as I have a different cast to work with, a different set design with a different director all the while living in a different country. Yet there are also many similarities. The fundamentals of the show are essentially the same: the script, the choreography and my character. I embrace the differences and enjoy the comfort of the similarities.

2. How do you find the ladies' reaction from the audience to your character?
Many women appear to love the character of Johnny Castle. There must be something about the masculine dance teacher that really appeals to some women!

3. Were you a fan of the Dirty Dancing movie as a child?
I may be giving away my age but I wasn't a child when I first saw the film. In fact I was about 16 or 17 and I really enjoyed it. I remember it making a big impression on me because I'd only just started dancing and the character of Johnny Castle was a strong male role model. The character seemed to say to me that it was OK to be masculine, a bit of a street kid, and to want to dance. At the time that was an important message to receive.

4. What's your favourite song or part of the show to perform?
This changes every night. I don't have any specific all-time favourite moments. It's whatever works on the night. On any given night some scenes and moments surprise you as they just seem to really come together beautifully, but they're usually different each night.

5. When you're out with friends, do you ever dirty dance to impress people?
Never!

6. What would your advice be to any aspiring dancers?
Learn from the past, there is so much to respect about the people that have trodden the path before you. You should also embrace the present with joy because the life of a dancer is a short one and it will pass quickly, so consider your future now.

7. Why do you think Dirty Dancing has been successful?
If I knew I'd go and make the sequel and retire with my 100 million dollars.

8. How would you sum up Dirty Dancing for all our readers?
Girl carries watermelon. Girl meets boy. Boy teaches girl to dance. Girl and boy fall in love. Boy gets girl out of corner.

9. What are your plans for the future?
Same plan as always... work hard and smart and wait for the line of opportunity to meet the trajectory of my career, and then leap!
