Avenue Q poster Avenue Q

We bumped into Trekkie Monster, Rod and Lucy the Slut on Avenue Q - here is what we found out!

1. Tell us what it is like living on Avenue Q.
Rod: Oh, it's fabulous, if you don't mind the two-hour commute into Manhattan. It's where all of my friends live because it's the only place they can afford. It's "charming", which is a euphemism for "run down and out-of-the-way."
Lucy: Myself, I've basically worked my way through every man in Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island, and Brooklyn, so this is why you'll find me on Avenue Q. I'm always on the search for new flesh.

2. Aside from the obvious, what do you use the Internet for?
Trekkie Monster: Porn.
Rod: He said "aside from the obvious", Trekkie.
Trekkie Monster: Oh, me sorry. Let me think on that. Hmmm.

3. Trekkie Monster, have you ever had a girlfriend in the flesh/fur?
Trekkie: Me have many girlfriends, but me never get to touch them because they all on computer. But they love me. On webcam they have pillowfight. It only cost me five hundred dollars. Me like having lots and lots of girlfriends. All those Internet girls crazy about Trekkie Monster.

4. Are you excited about moving "Avenue Q" to London?
Rod: Oh my Lord, yes! I look forward to a reception with the Queen. Meaning Elton, of course. That other Queen wouldn't be so bad, either.
Lucy: In full disclosure, I've pretty much done all of the boys in the North and South American continents, so I look forward to moving on to your charming island.

5. If you had to make a mix tape for any of the other characters in "Avenue Q" who would it be and what songs would you put on it?
Lucy: Listen, bub, I'm not making a "mix tape" for anybody. I GET gifts, okay?
Trekkie Monster: Me have gift for you, Lucy.
Lucy: Don't touch me.
Rod: I'd make a tape for Nicky, my slobby roommate. He needs a good education in Broadway musical history.

6. Which other West End shows will you be seeing during your time in London?
Rod: I've seen 'em all! I could perform them for you in their entirety at the drop of a hat. Though "Billy Elliott" would be difficult to re-enact because I don't have any legs.
Lucy: Yeah, those boys in "Billy Elliott" are kind of cute. You think I could arrange a date with all three at once? What are the age-of-consent laws in your neck of the woods, anyway?

7. Schadenfreude - the happiness at the misfortune of others - what is your favourite memory of this?
Lucy: My life is a trail of broken hearts of the men I've left behind. Sometimes I smile to myself when I think of the emotional anguish I've caused.
Rod: Just because I'm a puppet doesn't mean I'm evil.

8. What is your favourite song in the musical Avenue Q and why?
Lucy: Anything I get to perform.
Rod: Ditto.
Trekkie Monster: Ditto.

9. Trekkie, has it always been your dream to open a musical for Monsters?
Trekkie Monster: Me think Monsters are unappreciated. Me glad to spread word that we be productive members of society, and we also like to sing and dance.

10. Tell us why people should visit Avenue Q.
Rod: You\'ll never fully understand the show unless you see it live! I do love making people laugh and bringing them into our strange and wonderful world. And by the way, my contract won't run forever, so come see me before they replace me with somebody new. I hear Ian McKellen is very interested.
