Rock band Pixies were formed in and recorded their first album Surfer Rosa in 1986. The album received good reviews and became a college hit in the US and UK. There was no looking back for them thereafter, with top ten hits like Monkey Gone to Heaven and Here Comes Your Man. After a hiatus they returned in 1990 with Bossanova, which reached number three in the UK. They followed it up with Dig for Fire, which also went on to become a huge Modern Rock hit.
