After its hugely successful debut last year, Brighton's Royal Pavilion Real Ice Rink and Restaurant is back by popular demand and will open its twinkly gates on November 12, 2011, until January 22, 2012.
Viewed by many as the most romantic and beautiful setting for an ice rink in the country (and just under an hour from central London) it set a new standard in Christmas ice rinks for thousands of visitors last year.
With the former Royal pleasure palace as backdrop, the 800 square metre rink has space for 250 skaters per session and superb child-friendly facilities, with penguin stabilisers and learners' area as well as boots available in sizes from ‘just walking' with double blades to safe blades for bigger kids.
The "après ice" this year promises to be better than ever. The comfortable leather chesterfields and rustic seating in the bar and restaurant are perfect for watching the skating, whether you are dropping by for a drink after work or going on a Christmas outing with the family.
The food on offer ranges from cheese fondue and hearty home-made soups, to feasts fit for the Prince Regent, including oysters, sharing platters or even a whole roast suckling pig for parties of eight or more.
The bar will have a mouth-watering selection of cocktails, specially designed by the in-house mixologist, local Sussex ales, premium lagers and ciders as well as a comprehensive wine list, food-matched to the delicious menu.
There will also be regular evening and weekend events, such as fondue nights, wine tastings, cocktail master classes and supper clubs and excellent Christmas party packages.
Only 50 minutes on the train from London, Brighton is Christmas shopping heaven with the independent shops of The Lanes and North Laine on the Pavilion's doorstep and Churchill Square shopping centre just five minutes' walk away.
