Short Biography
Born Shawn Carter in the rough Marcy Projects of Brooklyn, NY, Jay-Z has sold over thirty three million albums, won Grammy, Soul Train and World Music Awards and created his own label, Roc-A-Fella Records.

Known for his street-hustler background, Jay-Z released his debut album Reasonable Doubt in 1996. The album produced three hit singles - Can't Knock the Hustle, which featured Mary J. Blige, Feelin' It and Dead Presidents.

His next two albums In My Lifetime, Vol. 1 and Vol. 2: Hard Knock Life proved to be both critical and commercial successes and made him one of the hottest rappers in the world.
