Hard Rock International presents this year's Hard Rock Calling 2009 in Hyde Park, London on 27 and 28 June and is delighted to announce the appearance of one of the biggest acts in the world. This year sees ‘The Boss' himself Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band headlining on Sunday 28 June performing to 45,000 fans. This performance will be Bruce Springsteen's first ever-festival appearance outside of the United States.
Main support comes from multi-million album selling American rockers Dave Matthews Band - with their hybrid of jazz, folk and a distinct pop sensibility resonating through capacity stadiums in the United States. They will be joining Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band on Sunday 28 June with full supporting line-up to be announced.
Dave Matthews Band comment on their appearance at Hard Rock Calling: "We are honoured to be playing in Hyde Park this summer as part of Hard Rock Calling Festival. So many great acts have left their footprints on this event and Dave Matthews Band are ready to leave some of its own."
New Jersey's newest and hottest sons, The Gaslight Anthem, will be joining Dave Matthews Band and New Jersey's original son, Bruce Springsteen, on Sunday 28 June at Hard Rock Calling. Currently in the midst of a world tour, The Gaslight Anthem are the hottest ticket around and have been cited as the best new band fans will hear in 2009.
Singer Brian Fallon of The Gaslight Anthem comments on how honoured they are to be playing Hard Rock Calling: "Obviously it's been a dream of mine to play with Bruce and the E Street Band. It's truly an honour, and on top of that for it to be in London, one of my favourite cities anywhere, it's a dream. Plus, it's two Jersey shore locals playing some rock and roll."
Hard Rock Calling is now established as one of the most important London events on the UK musical calendar. Past years have seen Aerosmith, Eric Clapton, Roger Waters, The Police and The Who create what is now identified as the most prestigious and ‘must be at' open air music event in the UK.
This year is set to raise the bar with the phenomenal Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band headlining the Sunday night of Hard Rock Calling. Having just released his new album ‘Working on a Dream' to mass critical acclaim and praise, he continues to create music that not only exudes passion and dedication but remains relevant to every age and every audience across the globe. Having played a sell-out tour in Europe last year, Bruce Springsteen and The E Street band return to the capital city for a performance that is sure to go down in history as one of Hard Rock Calling's and Hyde Parks most memorable nights.
His stunning 12-minute set with The E Street Band at halftime at Super Bowl XLIII earlier this month in front of millions proved his music is timeless.
Bruce Springsteen will be back in London with The E Street Band line-up of Garry Tallent (Bass), Clarence Clemons (Saxophone), Max Weinberg (Drums), Roy Bittan (Keyboards), Steven Van Zandt (Lead Guitar), Nils Lofgren (Guitar), Patti Scialfa (Backing vocals, Acoustic Guitar, Percussion), Soozie Tyrell (Violin) and Charles Giordano (organ).
When Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band take to the stage at Hard Rock Calling on 28 June 2009 they will be just yards away from the original and iconic Hard Rock Cafe on Old Park Lane, which opened in 1971 and continues to serve guests from all over the world every day. Hard Rock Calling, produced by Live Nation and presented by Hard Rock International, is a unique and historic musical event with a main stage, second stage and many surprises in store for music and festival fans of all ages.
Hard Rock owns the world's greatest collection of music memorabilia, which is displayed at its locations around the globe. Hard Rock will return to host its temporary Cafe in the main arena at this year's Hard Rock Calling, serving 50,000 guests its famous menu as they wine and dine in true Hard Rock style, with a similar serviced offered to VIPs backstage. Hard Rock Calling is part of Hard Rock's Ambassadors of Rock Tour, a global concert series that benefits charities around the world.
"We are thrilled to announce Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band as a headliner of Hard Rock Calling," said Hamish Dodds, president and CEO, Hard Rock International. "Bruce Springsteen has truly been an ‘Ambassador of Rock' and a great philanthropic partner to Hard Rock International helping raise more than a million dollars for charities through the Hard Rock Signature Series program and the Hard Rock Serve CDs, which featured never-released tracks from Springsteen."
