The American Express Symphony At The Park concerts are two uniquely themed symphonic performances commemorating and charting the history of the legendary Abbey Road Studios in the majestic grounds of West Londonʼs Chiswick House and Gardens on 20 and 21 August 2011.
Join the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Crouch End Festival Chorus and guest soloists performing some of Britainʼs best loved contemporary songs and iconic film scores originally recorded or mastered at Abbey Road Studios. Bask in the magical and picturesque surroundings of the newly restored Chiswick House & Gardens. Bring your friends, family, a picnic and rug, or choose from a mouth-watering selection of handpicked food and drink while relaxing alfresco on the grand lawn with views across the tranquil lake and imposing Chiswick House.
This year we celebrate Abbey Road Studios 80th Anniversary and present an exclusive performance collaboration between the worldʼs most renowned recording studio and most loved orchestra. Introduced by notable presenters and the world-class conductors Joel McNeely and Nick Ingman. Saturday 20 August features pop and rock classics from the studio's history and includes original arrangements of The Beatles, Pink Floyd and Radiohead, while Sunday 21 August features some of the greatest film music of all time including scores from Star Wars, Aliens, Amadeus and the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, all part of the magical history of Abbey Road Studios.
The performances will feature new, exclusive and never been played before orchestral arrangements, including Radioheadʼs High & Dry and the concert premiere of Disneyʼs Peter Pan Sequel "Return to Neverland".
Gates to the grounds open at 5.30pm, from when you are invited to settle down on the spacious lawns in front of the main stage. The concert starts at 19:15 with an introduction to the concert programme and history of the studios before the 80 piece orchestra start the main performance. There is an interval at 20:30 and the concert is due to finish by 22:00.
